Frequently Asked Questions
Please take a few minutes to read through our frequently asked questions and answers to find helpful information about our company, our products, and our services.
How long have you been in business?
ABA Appliance Repair, Inc. has been servicing the greater Austin area for over 20 years. We are family owned and operated and strive to provide our customers with the best service possible for the best price possible.
Why does my dryer take several cycles to dry?
A dryer's drying time is largely related to the flow of air through the machine and the condition of the venting hose. If air is impeded in its pathway out of the dryer, or if there is a blockage in the venting hose, it could reduce the rate at which clothes are drying in your dryer.
What product do you recommend to clean soap scum out of the dishwasher?
While there are many great products and home remedies that can clean out the dishwasher, all our technicians at ABA Appliance recommend and carry Dishwasher Magic.
Do we do same day service?
ABA Appliance strives to offer same day service to all of our customers, when the schedule allows.
What brands do you work on?
ABA Appliance offers service to all brands of household appliances.
How do I find the model and serial number for my appliance?
Depending on the appliance there are many different locations you can find this information. You can also find this information on the owner’s manuals that came with the appliance.
How much does an appliance repair usually cost?
It is difficult to give any pricing without having done a diagnostic on the machine prior and knowing exactly what the issue is and what parts are needed. However, ABA Appliance uses a flat rate pricing system that benefits the customer because if the job takes longer than estimated the customer is not penalized.
Why are my dishes coming out cloudy?
There are several things that could be causing the dishes to not come out clean for example; built up soap scum on the spray arms of the dishwasher, or there could be a clog in the filter at the bottom of the unit. However, it could be as simple as just too much soap being used during the wash cycle.
What information should I have when scheduling an appointment?
To make the process as quick as possible have the following items ready: Name, Address, Phone Number, Email, and the appliance brand and reported issue. The make and model of the unit is also helpful.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all payments including Credit Cards, Checks, and Cash.
What can I put down my garbage disposal?
Broken or clogged garbage disposals are often caused by misuse of the machine. Never put any non-biodegradable items down the garbage disposal, including glass, metal, or plastic. Most soft, biodegradable materials are acceptable, as are some hard, biodegradable materials such as eggshells, ice, and small chicken bones. Avoid putting hard-to-break-down food items through the disposal, such as corn husks, asparagus, or celery stalks and always run cold water when using the disposal as this can reduce the amount of fats and oils that are allowed to congeal within the pipes.
Why isn’t my washer rinsing all the suds from my laundry?
You may be using too much detergent in the washer. Concentrated detergents can be used at much lower measures. Check the detergent packaging for the proper amount per load. Also, if your home has a water softener, even less detergent will be required.
Are dryer sheets harmful to my dryer?
The sheets won’t damage your dryer, but do make sure you clean your lint filters before each use. This will prevent build-up of softening agents on the moisture sensor and keep your dryer running more efficiently.
Why does my freezer seem to be frosted over?
A few things that could cause this issue are: freezer door left ajar, freezer drain tube frozen, torn gasket, or an ice maker not filling properly. If these are not the case for your situation you may need to call and schedule an appointment with a trained freezer repair professional.
How do I determine if my appliance is worth repairing?
Older appliances are generally better-made than new ones and are most likely worth repairing. Depending on the appliance brand, model and repair problem, our technician can offer advice about the pros vs. cons of doing the repair, but often it’s necessary for him to come out to your home and physically see the appliance to provide a full diagnosis and recommendation.
